A keynote speech by Fr Peter-Hans Kolvenbach SJ, the Superior General of the Society of Jesus, will be webcast live on October 6. He speaks at 5:30 PM Pacific time on the topic "Faith and Justice in Jesuit Higher Education."
His speech will take place at the international education conference, "Commitment to Justice in Jesuit Higher Education," at Santa Clara University October 5-8.
Approximately 400 delegates from the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States, plus Jesuit leaders from Rome and Latin America will be attending the conference, the first systematic attempt to examine programs at these institutions that promote social justice in their curricula and in their communities.
Speeches by Leon Panetta and Claire Gaudiani will also be webcast live.
Panetta, former eight-term congressman and White House Chief of Staff speaks at 9:15 AM PDT, October 6, on the topic "The Pursuit of Justice in Public Life."
Gaudiani, president of Connecticut College and nationally recognized leader in building college-community partnerships, speaks October 7 at 9:15 AM PDT, on "Academic Institutions as Citizens for Justice."
